Biodiversity of Sasan Gir, Gujarat


Meaning of 'GIR' is hills.it is spread into around 1410 sq.km.It is last place for many species like Rusty Spotted Cat,Four-horned Antelope, Asiatic Lion etc
The Gir ecosystem falls in Biographic Zone 4 (the semi arid) & Biographic Zone 4B of Gujarat Rajwara is the last paradise of Asiatic Lion(panthera leo persica),located in southern peninsula of Saurasthra.
The unique ecosystem of Gir harbors about 450 species of plants, 32 species of mammals , around 300 species of birds, 30 species of reptiles & more than 2000 species of insects.
